Digital SAT adaptive routing
The Digital SAT is section-adaptive, not question-adaptive. You get a whole Module 2 chosen by how you did on Module 1. That single fork is the difference between an 800 attempt and a capped score.
The rule
Math routes around 15 correct out of 22. Reading & Writing routes around 18 out of 27. Those are working thresholds, not a College Board press release. Forms vary. If you are sitting on 14/22, you are gambling the entire scaled ceiling on one item.
What the easy path costs
A perfect easy-path Math section is still estimated around 650 on Drilled's curve. You can have a clean, confident test and never see 750. That is why 'I felt like Module 2 was manageable' is not always good news.
Training the gate without lying to yourself
Module 1 practice should be medium-heavy and timed. Dumping Hard items into a 'Module 1 drill' makes you feel ready and does not simulate the actual leak (rushing a linear system, a transition, a comma splice). Drilled's Routing Pace preset is medium only on purpose.
Questions
- Does one Module 1 miss ruin 800?
- No. You can miss several and still route, and you can miss on the hard module and still land high 700s. A cluster of Module 1 misses is what drops you onto the capped path.
- Is adaptive routing the same as the old paper SAT?
- No. Paper SAT was linear. Digital SAT chooses the second module from your first. Content is still SAT Math / Reading & Writing. The strategy is not.
